Following a cyberattack that affects thousands of retailers, CDK Global starts to restore systems
  • Retail technology and software vendor CDK Global said in a statement on Sunday that it has started working to restore systems used by more than 15,000 retail locations across North America, and it anticipates that the process would take “several days.”
  • The business, which supplies software to auto dealerships, momentarily stopped operating on all of its platforms on Wednesday and declared that it was looking into a cyber attack.
  • U.S. auto sellers Sonic Automotive and Penske Automotive reported disruption to their business on Friday due to CDK’s third day of unavailability.
  • As previously reported by Bloomberg News, a group of hackers claiming to be in charge of a cyberattack on CDK’s software systems has demanded a ransom in the millions of dollars to stop the hack.
  • After paying $6.41 billion to the investment group Brookfield Business Partners in April 2022, CDK became the final significant publicly traded supplier of software to auto dealers and manufacturers, going private.
  • (Gursimran Kaur reported from Bengaluru; Bill Berkrot and Marguerita Choy edited.)
